BehtarDilli at 1st Habitat Summit, India Habitat Centre
BehtarDilli will participate in Habitat Summit at India Habitat Center hosted by Urban Habitats Forum from 24th to 26th Sep 2009. Urban Habitats Forum is a professional civil society initiative designed to serve as a multi-disciplinary public awareness and educational platform, and to facilitate positive changes in Indian cities by engaging all stakeholders of society in shaping India’s built environment. The grand vision is to create advocacy-based public engagement model for catalysing positive urban change by showcasing community-oriented urban regeneration projects.
This first of its kind conference is designed to be a communication vehicle for position key policy issues as well as to highlight opportunities of positive change. The summit is designed with specific objectives like informing the general public about sustainable urbanisation and best practices in built environment, to improve the policy and regulatory framework that shapes the built environment , highlighting the innovative strategies for land use and opportunities for positive urban change, providing the education and learning opportunities to young people for developing a professional class for built environment management and expanding the sustainable urban development .
Habitat summit is thus an excellent forum for the citizens to interact with city planners and find out how they can help make Delhi a better place to live. The purpose of the event is to serve as a tool to “influence current and future leaders”. The summit is likely to attract over 20,000 visitors over the 3 days of conference. Among them will be a large pool of young participants from diverse fields, corporate players from different fields such as clean energy, real estate, infrastructure, town planners and architects etc. Participation from the media, government officials, international development agencies, university lecturers and chancellors are expected too.
It is very heartening to find such an amalgamation of people from different walks of life coming together with the aim of informing the intellectual space and working together for a better India.
