Piyush Agrawal, PanIIT 2009 Marketing Chair writes:

It all started with a conference call in August 2008. Ray Mehra, President of the IIT Midwest Chapter, asked chapter leaders
are you guys interested in hosting the first ever PanIIT conference in the city of Chicago.

It was a huge undertaking. IIT Midwest chapter has been active in hosting a number of local events but had never hosted upwards of 2000 people in one location. After extensive deliberations, the team took up on the offer.

Since that date, the organizing team has worked tirelessly to design the content, identify the conference location, setup conference logistics, invite speakers, spread the message and collect sponsorship funds.

One year later, the team has been successful in inviting luminaries from the highest levels of government, corporate, academic, and social/non profit organizations as evident from the list below. More than a 1000 attendees have already registered and a 1000 more are expected to sign up in the next couple of months.
We are proud to announce today that former United States President Bill Clinton will be the Keynote speaker at the event. The PanIIT 2009 conference will focus on the importance of innovation in key areas of interest that are well aligned with the goals and objectives of the WJC Foundation, viz. energy & climate change, education, and healthcare. President Clinton’s speech will address specific challenges and opportunities for action in areas such as education, energy & climate change, and public health, and how the attendees can transform ideas into action.

Besides Mr Clinton, other speakers at the event include Aneesh Chopra, the CTO of the Obama Administration; James W. Owens, Chairman and CEO of Caterpillar Inc.; Sharon M. Oster, Dean and Frederic D. Wolfe Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Yale School of Management; Sam Pitroda, Chairman of India’s National Knowledge Commission; Meera Shankar, Ambassador of India to the United States; Tulsi Tanti, Chairman of Suzlon Energy; Carl Schramm, President and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation, the world’s largest foundation devoted to entrepreneurship; and Raghuram G. Rajan, Eric J. Gleacher Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago and Former Chief Economist of the IMF. The entire speaker list is available at www.paniit2009.org/speakers
